Best Email Security Solutions in Dubai, UAE: 2026 Guide

Last reviewed: October 2026. Vendor details checked against each vendor’s own website and documentation.

Most email security products sold in Dubai now do the basics well: they block known malware, filter spam and catch obvious phishing. The differences that matter are how a product connects to your mail platform, how well it catches business email compromise (BEC) and account takeover, what happens after a bad email has already landed, and where your data is stored. This guide compares six email security solutions used by organisations in Dubai and across the UAE, and explains how to choose between them.

Email remains the most common way in. In April 2026 the UAE Cyber Security Council said that more than 75% of cyber breaches begin with phishing emails. For organisations in Dubai, the choice of email security also has to fit UAE data protection rules and, for government entities and regulated sectors, Dubai and federal security standards.

If you are choosing a provider to run email security for you, our email security services in Dubai page covers what a managed service includes. For a wider list of providers, see our comparison of cybersecurity companies in Dubai.

The email threats these solutions need to stop

Phishing is still the volume threat: emails that impersonate a bank, a delivery company or Microsoft to collect passwords. Attackers increasingly hide the link in a QR code or a document stored on a legitimate file-sharing service, which is why URL inspection at the moment of the click matters as much as scanning on arrival.

Business email compromise carries the biggest financial risk. The attacker impersonates a senior executive or a supplier, or writes from a supplier’s genuine mailbox after taking it over, and asks for a payment or a change of bank details. These emails often contain no link or attachment at all, so detection depends on spotting unusual senders, language and relationships.

Account takeover follows a successful phish. Once an attacker controls one mailbox, they send internal emails that pass every authentication check. A solution that only inspects inbound mail from outside will not see them.

Malware and ransomware still arrive as attachments and links. Sandboxing, which opens the file in an isolated environment before delivery, and content disarm and reconstruction (CDR), which delivers a cleaned copy of the document, are the main controls here.

What to check before you choose

Gateway or API. A secure email gateway sits in front of your mail platform: you point your MX records at it and all inbound mail passes through it first. An API-based product connects directly to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, needs no MX change, and can see internal email and remove messages after delivery. Gateways suit on-premises and hybrid mail and organisations that want continuity if the primary platform is down. API products deploy faster and see internal traffic. Several vendors in this guide offer both.

What your mail platform already covers. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace both include native protection, and higher licence tiers add more. Check what you already have so you do not pay twice for the same control, and review the settings in our list of Microsoft 365 security settings every UAE business should enable. Google Workspace has its own native controls and gaps, covered in our article on Google Workspace email security.

BEC and account takeover detection. Ask how the product detects an email that has no malicious link or file, and whether it monitors sign-in behaviour and internal mail for signs of a compromised account.

Post-delivery remediation. Some threats are only identified after delivery. Check that the product can pull a message from every mailbox automatically, and how quickly.

Domain protection. SPF, DKIM and DMARC stop attackers sending email that appears to come from your own domain. Several products include DMARC reporting or hosted DMARC. Microsoft’s SPF, DKIM and DMARC requirements for bulk senders also make this a deliverability issue.

Data location. Email security products store copies of messages, quarantined items and logs. If your organisation is subject to UAE data protection rules or a Dubai government standard, confirm where each component stores data, not just the main service.

SOC integration. Alerts are only useful if someone acts on them. Check that the product sends alerts and email events to your SIEM or XDR platform, and who will respond to them out of hours. For more detail on evaluation, see our guide on how to select the right email security solution.

The best email security solutions in Dubai, UAE

The solutions are listed in no particular order. Each entry covers how the product deploys, its main capabilities, the organisations the vendor positions it for, and UAE hosting.

1. Mimecast

Mimecast Advanced Email Security is available as an MX-based gateway, where all inbound mail passes through Mimecast first, or as an API-based deployment that adds detection on top of the mail platform’s own protection. It supports Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, on-premises and hybrid mail.

  • AI detection that uses social graph analysis to spot unusual senders and requests
  • Attachment sandboxing and URL protection at the time of click
  • Computer vision that detects impersonated brands and fake login pages
  • Post-delivery remediation and contextual warning banners
  • Email continuity with the gateway deployment, so mail keeps flowing during a platform outage
  • Optional Email Archive, DMARC Analyzer and Engage security awareness training
  • Threat sharing with SIEM and XDR tools

Recent updates: in March 2026 Mimecast added Adaptive Human Risk Security, which adjusts protection policies to each user’s risk score. In August 2026 it launched Agent Risk Center and a Managed Threat Response service.

Best fit: organisations that want email security, archiving and continuity from one vendor, including those running mixed or on-premises mail.

UAE data hosting: Mimecast customers choose a hosting region when they are onboarded. Mimecast does not list the UAE among its published hosting regions as of October 2026. iConnect is a Mimecast partner.

2. Proofpoint

Proofpoint Core Email Protection deploys either through an API that connects to Microsoft 365 via Microsoft Graph, with no MX change, or as a secure email gateway. Proofpoint packages its email and collaboration products in tiers, from Core Email Protection up to Collaboration Security Prime.

UAE data hosting: Barracuda hosts Cloud Archiving and Cloud-to-Cloud Backup in Azure UAE North. Check the hosting region for the other components with Barracuda.

Which solution fits your environment

Microsoft 365. Mimecast, Proofpoint, Check Point, Darktrace and Barracuda all protect Microsoft 365 through APIs, and Mimecast, Proofpoint, Barracuda and FortiMail can also run as a gateway in front of it. Where BEC and supplier fraud are the main concern, compare how each product detects emails that contain no malicious link or attachment.

Google Workspace. Mimecast, Proofpoint, Check Point, FortiMail Cloud SaaS, Darktrace and Barracuda all support Google Workspace.

On-premises Exchange or hybrid mail. Look at gateway deployments: FortiMail appliances or virtual machines, Barracuda Email Security Gateway, or Mimecast’s MX-based service.

Strict UAE data residency. Proofpoint’s Dubai data centre, Check Point’s UAE-restricted tenants and on-premises or virtual FortiMail are the options with published UAE hosting, and Barracuda hosts Cloud Archiving and Cloud-to-Cloud Backup in Azure UAE North. Hosting can differ by component, so check backups, archives and logs as well as the main service.

Archiving and continuity in one place. Mimecast, Barracuda Premium Plus, FortiMail and Check Point (as an add-on) include archiving alongside protection.

UAE regulations that affect email security

UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). In force since January 2022, the PDPL requires technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption, and requires breaches to be reported to the UAE Data Office. It restricts transfers of personal data outside the UAE to countries with adequate protection or under specific conditions, which is relevant when an email security service stores messages abroad. As of 2026, the executive regulations had not been published. Government data and organisations in the DIFC and ADGM fall under separate rules.

UAE Information Assurance Standard. Formerly known as the NESA standards, the IA Standard applies to federal entities and critical infrastructure. The UAE Cyber Security Council released an updated version in 2025.

DESC Information Security Regulation (ISR). Mandatory for Dubai Government Entities, including their employees, contractors and authorised third parties who handle government information. Cloud services offered to Dubai government must also meet the DESC Cloud Service Provider Security Standard.

DIFC and ADGM. Firms in the DIFC follow the DIFC Data Protection Law (DIFC Law No. 5 of 2020), and firms in ADGM follow the ADGM Data Protection Regulations 2021, which require breach notification within 72 hours where feasible. Both restrict transfers outside the free zone.

Central Bank of the UAE. The Operational Risk Management Regulation, in effect from 14 September 2026, requires licensed financial institutions to report incidents affecting critical operations to the Central Bank within four hours.

On email authentication, the UAE Cyber Security Council and EDGE’s ORYXLABS published a report in October 2025, based on data from nearly 600,000 email servers across the GCC, with recommendations for wider adoption of SPF, DKIM and DMARC.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best email security solution in Dubai?

It depends on your mail platform and requirements. For Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, API-based products such as Proofpoint, Mimecast, Check Point, Darktrace and Barracuda deploy without changing mail flow. Organisations with on-premises mail or strict in-country processing needs usually look at gateway options such as FortiMail or Barracuda, and those that want archiving and continuity with protection often shortlist Mimecast.

What is the difference between a secure email gateway and API-based email security?

A secure email gateway sits in front of your mail platform and receives all inbound mail through an MX record change. API-based security connects directly to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, needs no MX change, can inspect internal email and can remove messages after delivery.

Which email security solutions can keep data in the UAE?

Proofpoint operates a Dubai data centre, Check Point offers UAE-restricted tenants, FortiMail appliances or virtual machines keep processing in your own environment, and Barracuda hosts Cloud Archiving and Cloud-to-Cloud Backup in Azure UAE North. Hosting can differ by component, so check where archives, backups and logs are stored.

Which UAE regulations apply to email security?

Most organisations fall under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). Dubai Government Entities must follow the DESC Information Security Regulation, federal and critical infrastructure entities follow the UAE Information Assurance Standard, and DIFC and ADGM firms follow their own data protection laws.

Do I need DMARC if I already have an email security solution?

Yes. Email security products protect your inbox from incoming threats, while SPF, DKIM and DMARC stop others sending email that appears to come from your domain. Several products in this guide include DMARC reporting or hosted DMARC.

Choosing email security in Dubai comes down to three questions: which mail platform you run, whether you need a gateway, an API product or both, and where your data has to stay. Answer those first and the shortlist usually narrows to two or three products. If you want help comparing them against your own environment, iConnect’s team can review your current email security setup and recommend a configuration, whether you run it yourself or through our managed security services.
